FoRD Asili, was formed 35 years ago as a liberation and a people’s party. As these years are a landmark of the party’s determination and commitment to positive social and political change, the party wishes to celebrate this achievement in style; by reflecting on what we are, where we have come from, at what point of our country’s political life we are at, and, where indeed, we are going and doing with and for the people of this beloved country.
Just to remind the members that, the party was registered on 9th June 1992 under the name Forum for Restoration of Democracy-Asili.
In celebrating its silver jubilee, that is, 25 years of its existence in 2016, the party saw it fit to change the name, as restoration had been achieved for Kenya, which then had more than 60 registered political parties but, what the country was craving for was deeper understanding and consolidation of democratic values which the state leadership in its fragmentation, totally misrepresented, including, abusing people’s aspirations, and, the state of the republic, was not pegged on Truth and Justice, nor did it respect and stand for what was right.
Restoration, in the name was replaced with Republican, then followed an education programme for party officials and cadres to appreciate and understand the intentions in the change.
At this point in 2026, as the party reaches 35 years, the entire membership and generally the people of Kenya, appreciate the hard times we are in, weaved in socio-economic and political misdirection, caused by the current leaders; and, wishes in the same breath, to remind ourselves that, FoRD-Asili was formed to liberate the society, a cause the members remain committed to. Because of this commitment, officials and leaders of the party wish to address a series of issues which in their humble view tally with the dream of good life for which every human person aspires.
To begin with, the party wishes to review the fees provided for in the party’s constitution. This review aims at relieving those joining the party and Kenyans with dream and ambition for electoral leadership, in order not to be obstructed from participating in the internal political processes of their own country, while seeking ways and means to create a great and sovereign state. That can only be done by united citizens who see and feel the pain of manipulation, depravation, exclusion and, accumulation by few.
The party desires to have Kenyans realise and appreciate that our country lacks, free, consistent, accommodating and ideological political parties. Most fall by the wayside.
